Tha MYX is a church plant that is located in the Sun Valley community of Denver, CO. If you know anything about Sun Valley, it is a very unique community in itself. The community that Tha MYX serves is one of a kind with the following statistics:
•More than nine of every 10 people in the neighborhood live in subsidized housing
•The average annual family income is just $4,400
•More than half (2/3) of Sun Valley residents are 18 and younger; a total of 1,500 residents
live in Sun Valley
•57 percent of residents 25 and older have less than a 12th-grade education
•76% single mothers, 6% single fathers
•#1 in crime in the city of Denver
We are proud to be in Sun Valley. Our heart is to “reach the world” with the gospel. We moved to this community because of the brokenness, and despair. “I too once lived a life of drugs, gangs and crime. I was looking at 40 years to life in prison because of my foolishness,” says Pastor AGE. “I want to reach out to those who are in a place where I once was.” It’s a neighborhood that our church members love. Most of our congregants come from within the community.
Tha MYX is a muli-cultural church that embraces the urban culture. We have various types of ministries reaching out to just about everything in the urban community. Whether it’s a Holy Hip Hop worship service to our contemporary Sunday morning worship, you will find a warm loving friendly atmosphere while visiting Tha MYX International. We are authentic at heart. Our people make up a variety of folks that have come from many different backgrounds and have some heart wrenching testimonies. From homelessness to surviving a domestic violence attack of being stabbed 26 times in the face while driving a vehicle and children in the back seat to ex-drug addicts, you will find that Tha MYX is a God driven, spirit filled place of worship.
Tha MYX has two strategies. A ‘church strategy’ and an ‘outreach strategy.’ Our church and outreach strategy is to encourage our partners to do the following:
Church Strategy:
Connect (Willingness to CONNECT to God first, then to the Church)
Grow (Willingness to GROW through fellowship of the Church)
Expand (Willingness to EXPAND through outreach
Outreach Strategy:
Engage (with people)
Equip (the saints)
Empower (send out)
Evangelize (be the voice and life of the Gospel)
We are a colorful body that thrives on great bible teaching, friendly atmosphere and we deeply push hard in being a tightly knitted family. As we live our Christian lives at Tha MYX, we want to live life with one another. We want to reflect what God wants us to and that’s to live like Jesus!
